Wednesday 6th February 2019 marked the start of a new course called Innovative Trends in International Supply Chains (ITR). The launch took place in InnoCube at ŠKODA AUTO University. The lecture was also special because of 18 visiting students from Ostbayerische Technische Hochschule (OTH) Regensburg together with 8 students from ŠAVŠ. The Rector did the opening presentation, in which he has highlighted that it is the first course taught together with a foreign university.
The course in Mladá Boleslav continued until 8th February and was very busy. In addition to conventional lectures, students also played the "beer game" which simulated the effect of dynamically changing market conditions in beer keg distribution. On Friday, the group visited the Logistics Department to see the latest technology solutions, specifically the semi-automated warehouse of large packaging and the fully-automated warehouse of small packaging.
In the second week, between 13th and 15th February, the lectures moved to OTH in Regensburg in return. The Czech delegation was greeted not only with lovely weather, but also by the Vice President of OTH University. The schedule was once again very interesting. It included, for example, a visit to the Continental plant to see the implementation of Industry 4.0 and a lecture by the manager of logistics service provider Kühne&Nagel. The same way as in the first week at ŠAVŠ, both German and Czech students were offered internships and theses options.
ŠKODA AUTO University would like to thank the Bavarian-Czech Academic Agency who covered part of the costs. We would also like to thank Ostbayerische Technische Hochschule Regensburg for their pleasant cooperation.
